On Thursday we invited parents and friends of Falkland House to come along and celebrate the successes of the year with us. The day included an awards presentation, a movie showcasing some of the highlights of 2015 so far and chef prepared a delicious buffet for our guests.
Each of the boys were recognised for their own individual achievement, awards included best employee of the year, a consistently meeting targets award and peer supporter award. As if that wasn’t enough we then had presentations for the many events the pupils have been taking part in all year this included a pool league, golf league and chess competition. We were proud to celebrate three of the pupils who have trained with the Dunfermline Table tennis club and earned a place each on the Scottish Table Tennis Rankings. Three of our senior boys were recognised for their fantastic efforts at army cadets and we were delighted to have Roy Steele our karate instructor attend and present awards to the pupils taking part in karate. A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Sportsman of the Year. The staff and pupils had a secret ballot to vote on this accolade and ultimately Kieran was thrilled to be presented with the trophy.
All the families and professionals who attended loved the video presentation which captured some of the highlights of the year including visits from Annabelle Ewing Scottish minister for youth employment and Lord and Lady Hope. They also got to see some of the projects the boys are involved in including the log cabin construction, ground care projects as well as some of the work we have been involved in with some of our local community partners including the Falkland Palace and Pillars of Hercules Organic Farm.
The boys were in high spirits at the end of a busy year and ready to enjoy their summer holidays.
